Care Commute's 5 groovy tips to help your family have a safe Halloween!

1.  Map out your Halloween Route

 Luck favors the prepared!  Create a Halloween Map/Route with your family.  Check out Nextdoor Treat Map.  Nextdoor is the private social network for your neighborhood. 2.  Safety Reminders

Halloween can be an exciting time! Remind kiddos the importance of looking both ways before crossing the street and using the crosswalks.  Go over the normal everyday safety procedures with your children as the Halloween excitement could cause them forget.

3.  I see you!

With so many costumes, it’s difficult to spot your kiddo out from the crowd.  Give your family wearable blinking LED lights, reflective tape and a flashlight for added visibility.  Make sure to place it on a location where you can spot it easily.  This will also help your children be more visible to drivers.

4.  I can find you!

Now a days, everyone has a smart phone!  Have your family download the Life360 app.  It is free and is a Family Locator App that lets you locate family members and quickly communicate with them.  This way you can see the GPS location of all your family members.

5.  Trick or Treating Snacking

Many families already check their children’s Halloween candy when they return home but often times children will snack on candy while their trick or treating.  Make sure children know to wait till they have all candy checked before eating.
